Teenage boy stabbed on Peter Piper pizza; 3 wounded in other gunfights

A 14-year-old boy was stabbed to death and a shotgun fired in a rash of unrelated violence in an attack outside a Peter Piper Pizza restaurant in El Paso over the weekend.

Incidents included shootings in an alleyway near downtown and outside a bar on the Far East Side.

El Paso police officials said Monday all cases were being investigated. There were no arrests.

Man shot dead in South Side alley

Around 7 p.m. Friday, a man was found on a sidewalk bleeding from a gunshot wound to a leg at the 1100 block of Myrtle Avenue near the Opportunity Center for the Homeless in the Magoffin neighborhood, east of downtown.

Patrol officers learned that Kenneth Ray Green, 53, of El Paso, was shot and killed by an unknown person in an alley, police said. Officers searched the area but found no suspects.

Green was taken to the University Medical Center of El Paso, where he received medical attention and was discharged.

Teen stabs Peter Piper Pizza

A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was beaten and stabbed to death by a group Saturday night outside Peter Piper Pizza at 9450 Dyer St. in the Northeast, police said.

Shortly before 7 p.m., the boy got into an argument with someone in the restaurant. As he went outside, he was attacked by several men who got out of a car and began hitting, kicking and stabbing him, according to a police press release.

During the drive, the attackers fired a shotgun, causing people in the parking lot to run back into the restaurant to hide, police said. Nobody was injured by the shotgun.

The teenager was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The attack is being investigated by the police gang unit.

Accidental shooting in the Northeast

In another incident, a man was accidentally shot in the chest by his roommate while they were handling firearms, police said.

The shooting took place around 7 a.m. Saturday at the 11600 block of Dyer Street in the Northeast. Patrol officers were responding to Sierra Providence Northeast, where a patient was being treated for a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

The wound is not life-threatening, police said. The wounded man’s name was not released.

Shooting in the streets of Zaragoza

A 22-year-old man was shot and injured in a fight at a Far East Side bar early Sunday, police said.

Cristian Lopez was injured in Sunday’s shooting around 1:15 a.m. in the Zaraplex retail district on the 1700 block of North Zaragoza Road, police said. Lopez was treated and discharged from Del Sol Medical Center. An investigation is ongoing.
