Support local students during the Greater Schools Supplies Drive

The Greater Nevada Credit Union is working with the Education Alliance of Washoe County and Communities in Schools Nevada to collect new school supplies for the next school year

The Greater Nevada Credit Union created the Greater School Supplies Drive to assist students, teachers, and schools in Nevada by collecting the materials they need for a successful academic year.

RENO, NEVADA – The new school year is just around the corner and the Greater Nevada Credit Union has launched Greater School Supplies Drive to help Nevada students, teachers, and schools source the materials they need for a successful academic year will. Many students lack the materials necessary to succeed in the classroom, and teachers often use personal resources to purchase them. In fact, the average K-12 teacher supplements their classroom materials with an average of $ 478 of their own money with no reimbursement.

“Providing students with the tools and resources they need to succeed in school is the foundation of a larger community for today and tomorrow,” said Danny DaLaRosa, chief development officer for the Greater Nevada Credit Union. “We are proud to work with the Education Alliance of Washoe County and Communities in Schools to support this vision of a better future for all.”

“Local student success in the classroom affects all of us in the community,” said Kendall Inskip, executive director of the Education Alliance of Washoe County. “Classroom items are no longer shared, and too many of our students don’t have the materials needed to be successful in the classroom – materials that many of us take for granted. We are fortunate to have such great partnerships and community members who support us in our efforts to ensure that all children can focus on their learning. “
