Arizona police arrested a driver on assault and DUI charges related to a violent traffic incident in which he was caught on camera ramming a man’s car and slamming the victim into the street after an altercation Air hurled.
Police were called to the intersection of 43rd and Peoria Avenues in Phoenix at around 12:45 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a traffic incident involving a driver who was later identified as 40-year-old David Shelton, who was observed as he hit other waiting vehicles a red light.
The video from viewer Edward Zaragoza captures the moment when Shelton, who drives a black limousine, slams into a silver car while the owner of the vehicle is standing on the street.

Moments later, Shelton’s car accelerates towards the other driver, who jumps on the hood and stomps on the windshield before getting off.
The driver of the silver car then goes in search of his dog Ricky, who sees him running away from the intersection.
As soon as the light turns green and the traffic starts flowing, Shelton makes a sharp right turn and rams the other driver, who is still calling for his dog, and tosses his body in the air.

Shelton has been detained in the county jail on a number of charges, including aggravated assault and DWI
Police later located and arrested Shelton for aggravated assault, assault, aggravated driving under the influence, failure to provide information, and parole violation.
Eyewitness Michelle Gibbons told AZCentral.com that she saw Shelton first drag a green Kia Soul, then get out of his car and yell at the Kia driver.
During that argument, the driver of the silver car yelled at Shelton to calm down, causing the 40-year-old suspect to reach into the man’s vehicle and hit him.
The driver of the silver car then got out with a baton, according to Gibbons, and hit Shelton’s car.
Police said Shelton also hit two other vehicles while on the road during the incident. He was booked into Maricopa County Jail.
