Stabbed at El Burrito Loco: Minooka Man, 41, arrested


CHANNAHON, IL — A 23-year-old knife victim from Joliet was in serious condition Tuesday at Morris Hospital, and Channahon police arrested a 41-year-old Minooka man in connection with Tuesday afternoon’s violent fight at El Burrito Loco Way 6 restaurant .

Antonio Zaragoza was taken into custody at 18:04 by the Channahon Police Department for aggravated assault and police said a knife was recovered.

According to the police: There was a fight between two groups in the El Burrito Loco restaurant, which continued into the parking lot. Police were called to the scene around 2:45 p.m. and about five people were involved in the fight, authorities said.

Officers learned that one of those involved in the fight had a knife, and he escaped in a black car before Channahon’s squad car arrived at the El Burrito Loco.

A second black car, described as an Impala, was also seen fleeing the area.

The Impala was located by police at the intersection of Route 6 and Ridge Road, police said. A passenger in that car sustained a knife wound to his abdomen.

Rescuers from the Minooka Fire Department treated the 23-year-old Joliet man, who was taken to Morris Hospital in serious condition, authorities said.

As for Zaragoza, he was sent to Grundy County Jail in Morris. The Minooka man lives on the 300 block of Deerpath Drive.
