HOUSTON, September 7, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Riviana Foods Inc. today announced its investment of $80.6 million to expand and renovate its state-of-the-art processing and packaging facility Memphis, Tennessee. The investment will significantly increase Riviana’s production capacity for its ready-to-serve cup and pouch products and create around 80 new full-time jobs.
The investment will add approximately 65,000 square feet to the plant and include a renovation of approximately 20,000 square feet, increasing the plant’s current production capacity for its minute® microwaveable rice cups and introduces new production capacity for ready-to-serve bag lines of its Tilda®Carolina® and Mahatma® rice brands.

It is the facility’s seventh expansion project since it opened in 2006. Most recently in April 2021invested Riviana 15 million dollars to improve production and expand instant rice capacity. The demolition and construction work is expected to start in the first quarter of 2023, and utilization of the new production capacities is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2024.
The expansion and renovation project is supported by an 11-year PILOT (payment in lieu of tax) incentive awarded by the Industrial Development Board of the Economic Development Growth Engine City of Memphis and county Shelby, Tennessee.
