Riviana expands rice capacity by half

Riviana Foods, North America’s largest manufacturer of branded and private label rice products, is expanding storage capacity at one of its facilities. The company has built two new silos at its Clearbrook, Minnesota wild rice facility and has expanded storage capacity by 50%.

Earlier this year Riviana expands production at its Memphis facility. The move strengthened its rice production Renovation and modernization of the existing processing lines as well as the controls and the rice transfer system. The company also replaced an instant brown rice production line. The efforts were aimed at increasing the reliability, volume performance, productivity and efficiency of the plant as well as the sustainability of the production process.

The new silos complement rice production by providing an additional 90,000 bushels of storage space for Riviana’s private label rice. Riviana’s own brands include Minute, Mahatma, Success, Carolina, Comet, Adolphus, Blue Ribbon, RiceSelect, Gourmet House and Tilda.

Riviana also processes, markets and sells fresh pasta through the Olivieri brand. Late last year, Riviana sold some of its brands to TreeHouse Foods.

“As a leading wild rice producer, we are excited to expand our capacities and improve our service to farmers in the heart of the largest wild rice growing region,” said Enrique Zaragoza, President and CEO of Riviana. “The expansion also supports our farm-to-fork service for our customers and consumers.”

“The improvement at our Clearbrook facility shows that Riviana continues to support our wild rice business and growth,” said Julie Wraa, Riviana’s general manager. “In addition, it reinforces our ongoing commitment to our employees, breeders and the community.”
