An old Laredo favorite will soon be back in action, if you can believe a social media post from a Laredo property development company.

A post from Killam Development, who welcomes Hal’s Restaurant and Bar to its family, has Laredo excited, with locals eagerly awaiting the return of a popular nightspot.

According to the development company, the bar will return in a few months and operations are expected to resume in July 2021. However, some changes are being made to the building that the Laredoans fondly remember.

It appears that the large facility that originally housed the bar and restaurant will be split in three directions, with space reserved for two gyms – Fit Club and Tumble Queen – which are slated to open this fall. Both gyms will have a separate outside entrance on the east side of the building, with the west side of the building reserved for Hals.

Over 20,000 m² of the building will be reserved specifically for Hals, including space for a bar, terrace and dance floor.

The return would be welcome news for Laredoans who have mourned the loss of the nightspot in 2018. According to an LMT story, the original restaurant and bar had to close because the owner lost a lawsuit that had nothing to do with Hals landing.

According to their website, Killam Development is the largest mixed-use developer in the Laredo area and has significant holdings across the state. Among their tenants are a number of well-known Laredo companies such as 550 Pizzeria, Polly Adams, Sushi Madre, Skintology, Trattoria Mia and more.
