Pedri helps donate bananas from the Canary Islands to food banks across Spain

Pedri had an intense year. The 18-year-old played 75 official games for Barcelona and La Roja in the 2020/21 season, including La Liga, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de Espana, Champions League, Euro 2020 and the Olympic Games.

After a short break at home in the Canary Islands with his family, he is ready to go. “I really want to get started,” said Pedri, according to Mundo Deportivo. “Quiet is important, but the truth is that after three or four days of rest you want to go back to the field and enjoy what you love to do.”

Pedri supports the Association of Banana Producers of the Canary Islands, which distributes 80,000 kg of bananas on 54 tables across Spain. It was part of an initiative they launched at the start of Euro 2020, where they donated 100kg of fruit for every kilometer that La Roja, including Pedri, ran on the pitch, eventually reaching 766.5km. Pedri ran 76 km himself, most of all Spanish players.

Pedri amazed everyone on and off the pitch with his maturity and returned to Barcelona training this week. Barcelona needs him; Losing both Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann this summer, they now rely heavily on their younger guns to take the top and help the club compete in La Liga and the Champions League.
