Attention performance artists, apply from October 15 to December 15, 2021 for the Artist Access Program 2023. During the entire period there will be open consultation hours to help you fill out the application.
The Artist Access Program offers emerging and established performance artists from the Austin area free or low-cost rehearsal and production space. Created to meet the needs of local artists, participating organizations work with the city of Austin cultural centers to provide professional performances, rehearsal rooms, and marketing and staffing support.
Participating artists and arts organizations can take advantage of extended rehearsal times and the ability to produce public performances at four of the city’s cultural centers for free or for a discounted $ 1 rental fee per ticket sold. Participating locations include the Asian American Resource Center, Dougherty Arts Center, George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center, and the Zilker Hillside Theater.
The Artist Access Program was created from an instruction by the city council to use the cultural arts funds of the Hotel Occupancy Tax to extend the opening times in the city’s own cultural centers. Applicants are assessed by an independent panel of professional Austin artists based on set criteria.
