Rose McIver (iZombie) works with the undead again: In this feel-good comedy based on a British hit, she plays the aggressively positive author Samantha, who and her more practical cook want to transform the recently inherited Victorian house in New York’s Hudson Valley into a B&B. Husband, Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) . But after a near-death experience, she develops the ability to see the dead – and this house is full of them.
Once she gets over her initial shock and convinces Jay that she has not Going insane, Samantha “brings her fresh eyes to the persistent problems of ghosts’ roommates that have lingered for hundreds of years,” explains Ghosts Executive Producer Joe Port.
McIver adds, “For me this show is about understanding the people you spend a lot of time with in close proximity, which seems very appropriate after last year.” Of course, Samantha will take advantage of speaking to the ghosts too to be able to when her husband cannot. They report things he does that don’t tell her: “It’s a power imbalance that gets pretty funny,” says McIver.
Below, the actress, Port, and EP colleague Joe Wiseman make the introduction.
