Local artists bring Laredo culture to life for Celebrate Laredo at The Outlet Shoppes



The beauty, vibrant colors and traditions of Laredo culture will come to life on Saturday as part of the celebrations in downtown Laredo at the Outlet Shoppes at Laredo.

Visitors to the center can celebrate with live entertainment, artists, a pop-up market with 50 local vendors and artisans, and the unveiling of a new mural in honor of Laredo and its rich history.

Shoppers can enjoy the unveiling of the most recently completed mural by local artist Abel Gonzalez, a piece inspired by cultural festivals. Gonzalez is a local artist who has worked on 12 murals across Laredo, including the Laredo Public Library.

To celebrate the unveiling of the new mural, Folklorico Dancers from the Baila School of Dance will perform near the mural on Level 2 of the center near Nike at 1:30 p.m.

Buyers are invited to take a photo of the mural and use #CelebrateLaredoCelebrateOSL to tag the center on Facebook and Instagram.

The events include:

12 p.m. – 5 p.m. – Pop Up Shop with over 50 local traders and artisans, live DJ Ricky Rick.

1 p.m. – mural debut in celebration of Laredo, Cabezones show hosted by TOP SHOP – costumed children’s characters.

1:30 p.m. – Folkloric dancers from the Baila School of Dance.

3:30 p.m. – Beautiful Pups Pageant, hosted by Miss Laredo Brianna Longoria and The Laredo Pageant Production.

The Outlet Shoppes at Laredo is a two-story, 358,000-square-foot outlet mall on the banks of the majestic Rio Grande in downtown Laredo, Texas. The center features nationally renowned designer stores including Michael Kors, Vera Bradley, Under Armor and a Nike Factory Clearance Store on two levels.
