In response to the destruction wrought by the Caldor Fire in the South Lake Tahoe area, the Greater Nevada Credit Union has committed to contributing up to $ 5,000 in matching funds to the American Red Cross through its online portal. Donations can be made at GNCU.org/RedCross. All GNCU branches also collect donations of essentials that are distributed to organizations that work for the protection and safety of the area’s residents.

“The proximity of the Caldor Fire to the South Lake Tahoe and Douglas Counties has once again brought community-minded businesses and citizens together to serve those in need,” said Wally Murray, President and CEO of GNCU. “We applaud the Red Cross and are happy to support its relief efforts on behalf of those affected by this tragic event. We are also very grateful for the dedicated and courageous first responders whose unwavering work has helped fight the flames and destruction. “

The donation of the disaster relief is intended to support the Red Cross in its efforts to help the people affected or displaced by the Caldor fire.

“I am so grateful to GNCU for being so generous in a year of so many disasters,” said Mary Powell, executive director of the American Red Cross in Northern Nevada. “I cannot express our gratitude enough.”

The GNCU also accepts applications for its disaster relief loan program. The program aims to provide financial assistance to all qualified Nevada residents suffering economic loss or hardship as a result of this event. The program offers flexible options for individuals who need short-term funding. This includes waived creation and application fees. For these loans, too, GNCU offers flexible repayment options and deferred interest. All loans require loan approval. Complete financial information, including all loan rates, fees, and term details, is available on GNCU.org or by calling GNCU’s consumer credit advisors at (855) 548-4787.
