Ghosts: The Musical – CBS Shares Haunted ‘Hamilton’-Like Gift For Fans

CBS’ Rose McIver & Utkarsh Ambudkar-With ghosts has had a pretty good 2022 so far. In its first month, the popular freshman series learned it was returning for a second season. From there, the series has seen the buzz around it grow, as has the streaming count for season one episodes. And it’s all thanks to a loyal fanbase that did their part to popularize the BBC series remake. And now they get a “thank you” from the cast and crew in the form of Ghosts: The Musical. Released for free streaming (and you can check it out below), the Hamilton-style performance took place earlier this month during the company’s Upfronts presentation. McIver directed an ensemble that included Asher Grodman (Trevor) Richie Moriarty (Soldier Pete), Sheila Carrasco (Susan), Roman Zaragoza (Sasappi), Devan Chandler (Thor) and Rebekah Wisocky (Hetty)- together with Brandon Scott Jones (Captain Isaac).

Now, here’s a recap of how the producers surprised the cast with the news of the series’ renewal (followed by a recap of the official Season 1 trailer):

GHOSTS is a single-camera comedy about Samantha (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), a cheerful freelance journalist and aspiring city chef, respectively, who throw both caution and money to the wind when they decide to transform a giant run-down country estate they inherited into a bed and breakfast – only to find it inhabited by the many ghosts of deceased residents who now call it home.

The Departed Souls are a close-knit, eclectic group that includes a cheeky Prohibition-era lounge singer (Danielle Pinnock); a pompous 18th-century militiaman (Brandon Scott Jones); a ’60s hippie who loves hallucinogens (Sheila Carrasco); an overly optimistic Boy Scout troop leader of the ’80s (Richie Moriarty); a cod-obsessed Viking explorer from 1009 (Devon Chandler Long); a slick ’90s financier (Asher Grodman); a sarcastic and witty 16th-century native (Roman Zaragoza); and a society woman and wife of an 18th-century robber baron who is Samantha’s ancestor (Rebecca Wisocky), to name a few. If the spirits were worried about the uproar a renovation and B&B will cause at their home, that’s nothing compared to realizing that Samantha is the first living person to see and hear them.
