Ethel Stewart Obituary (1930-2021) – Weslaco, TX

WESLACO – Ethel Claire Stewart, 91, entered eternal life on Wednesday December 22, 2021 at the John Knox Village Health Center, Weslaco, Texas. She was born on December 6, 1930 in Plymouth, New Hampshire. Her parents were Reverend William Ward Stewart and Ethel Claire Shields Stewart. Ethel and her parents, brother and sister moved to Pharr, Texas in 1933. Her father was a very popular rector of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Pharr for many years. After retiring in 1968, he moved to Weslaco with his wife and Ethel. After the death of her parents, she continued to live in her home and enjoy the company of her neighbor, Mrs. Pearl Brixey.

Ethel worked at several banks in Weslaco, where she loved bank customers and employees. In 2006 she sold her home and moved to John Knox Village, where she enjoyed the company and friendship of everyone who lived there. She was especially grateful for the friendship and help she received from Andrea Treviño and her supervisors.

Ethel leaves a nephew, Andres William Stewart, who lives in Zaragoza, Spain, and two great nieces and a great-nephew and nephew, Alejandro Stewart, who lives in Tarragona, Spain. Her sister Mary Claire and brother William died before her.

A funeral service will be held in the Valley Memorial Gardens, Mission, followed by a memorial service in the John Knox Village Chapel on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 10:30 am.
