The President’s State of the College address is designed to focus on academic excellence

The President of the College of Southern Nevada, Dr. Federico Zaragoza, opens the new academic year on Monday 22nd August with the annual State of the College speech and convocation ceremonies.

Zaragoza will address how the state’s largest higher education institution weathered the COVID-19 pandemic, what challenges lie ahead and the importance of maintaining rigorous academic standards in a challenging environment while striving for continuous improvement.

Officials from the Nevada System of Higher Education are expected, as well as distinguished students and college faculty.

In addition to the address in Zaragoza, the event will include a panel of higher education accreditation experts, a speech by Yvette Machado, President of the Student Union, and awards to outstanding and distinguished faculty and staff.

The annual Convocation & Welcome Back event is a tradition at CSN and serves as a transition into the new academic year. Classes begin August 29th.
