A Chehalis man is being held on bail of $ 40,000 for allegedly raping a 15-year-old in late 2018.
The victim reported the incident in January 2019, alleging that Romero Filemon Zaragoza violently raped her despite being repeatedly told to stop physically trying to escape and that he injured her.
The Lewis County Supreme Court issued an arrest warrant for Filemon Zaragoza in September 2019. He was detained in Lewis County Jail on February 18, 2021 and charged with second- and third-degree rape and possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
Judge J. Andrew Toynbee approved a non-contact provision on Filemon Zaragoza’s release conditions to be bailed out to prohibit contact with minors other than his two biological children.
Defense attorney Rachael Tiller said the children’s mother, who was present with her children in the courtroom, was a mother who stayed home and could supervise the children at any time.
Toynbee also approved a protection order for the victim.
Filemon Zaragoza is due to go to trial on March 4th.
